Job Title: Information Technology Support Technician
Reports to: President or President’s designate individual
FLSA status: Exempt
Prepared date: 7/1/2013

Summary: To provide superior levels of assistance to clients in resolving
computer, printer, network, email, and software application problems in a
cost-effective manner that supports the vision and technical goals of Expetec.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following (although other duties may be assigned):

  • Troubleshooting problems with desktop PC systems, printers, network servers and operating systems, and software applications for Expetec clients
  • Research solutions including, but not limited to, Internet searches, technical forums, manufacturer websites, white papers, and professional organizations
  • Communicate solutions to problems clearly, collaborate with both technical and nontechnical Expetec personnel and clients on key issues, and record/document solutions completely
  • Remain current on industry changes and updates affecting existing and emerging technologies
  • Collaborate with supervisor and clients to assure all current issues are resolved in a timely manner
  • Assist supervisor with network upgrades, new program rollouts, and client/user support
  • Perform related work as required (Note: The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is similar and related to this position)

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each

  • Education and/or Experience: Minimum requirement of an Associates degree
  • As a minimum, Certificate of Completion in Computer Electronic Technology/Computer Information Systems from an accredited vocational or technical school requiring two or more years of full-time status for completion. 4-year Computer Science degree a plus.
  • Comptia A+ and/or Network + certification recommended
  • 3 or more years experience analyzing and repairing computers, troubleshooting operating systems, applications and networks in a diverse, networked environment.

Computer Skills: Demonstrated knowledge in Windows XP, Vista, and 7, Windows Server 2003,
2008, MS Exchange Server, MS SQL Server, Cisco routers & switches
Other skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge in network planning, design, and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to follow complex written and oral directions
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and bulletins
  • Experience with industry-standard computer applications
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people regardless of race, sex, or age

Physical Demands: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time. Job has extensive phone
and computer usage, so effectively operating a computer is a must. Position requires lifting or
exerting up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or 20 pounds of force consistently to move objects.

Work Environment: Hours of position will be 8:00 to 5:00. Workdays will be Monday
through Friday. Any special projects requiring weekend time will be scheduled with notice.
